The School:
A small alternative provision based in Gloucester. The school provides a safe learning environment, and excellent education, for pupils at risk of permanent exclusion. The student body includes looked after pupils, of which many have experienced varying levels of trauma. All students have SEMH needs and are placed here on short/medium term placements. The aim is to reintroduce pupils to mainstream education at some point.

The school is situated in a historic town with beautiful surroundings. It has some public transport links. Two public car parks are located within a short walking distance of the school.

The Role:
You will be teaching Maths and Science to KS3 pupils. The classes will have no more than 6 students, and often fewer. You will also be supporting the pastoral development of pupils, with a significant focus on self-regulation skills and increasing self-esteem. Although this role is specific to Maths and Science, there will be elements of life education that the students require.

This role would be ideal for an empathetic, motivated and dedicated teacher, with a passion for making a difference in young people's lives. Your day-to-day work will come with challenges, and you will need to be pro-active about taking those challenges on. As with many challenging roles, it also comes with huge rewards in terms of making and positive impact and preventing pupils from permanent exclusion.

This role does not require previous experience working in an alternative/specialist provision. The school is open to applications from mainstream teachers who have the right skills, attitude and drive.
