The School
We are working with a college that provides education for young people with a range of complex needs. Some students attend mainstream college courses with additional support, while others learn within a specialist hub. The college aims to promote independence, confidence, and life skills for all learners, offering a nurturing and structured environment with a strong focus on inclusion and wellbeing.
The Role
You will be providing 1:1 support for students with complex learning needs, helping them to access lessons, develop independence, and engage positively in their learning. This may include supporting emotional regulation and using alternative communication methods. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality support across the college day.
Main Responsibilities
Provide individualised support to students with complex needs
Facilitate access to learning in both mainstream and specialist settings
Support students’ communication, social, and emotional development
Promote independence and life skills
Liaise with tutors and the wider support team to implement agreed strategies
Essential Criteria
Previous experience working with secondary age pupils and above
Excellent communication skills
Ability to think on your feet and be proactive
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young people
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge of alternative communication methods

Pay

Vetting
Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will undergo checks including reference and TRA checks. If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, a new DBS will need to be processed at a cost of £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work and once registered to the update service.
