SEPTEMBER OPPORTUNITY

Location: Schools across Wiltshire and Swindon
Contract: Full-time or part-time, flexible supply and long-term placements available
Pay: £89–£100 per day (inclusive of holiday pay, depending on experience)

Do you have experience supporting children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)? Are you passionate about helping students overcome communication barriers and thrive in their learning?

Five Education are looking for SLCN Teaching Assistants to work in primary schools across Wiltshire and Swindon. These roles involve supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence in their communication skills.

The Role:
Support students with speech and language needs, both in class and through targeted interventions
Work closely with SENDCo, Speech and Language Therapists, and teaching staff
Use visual aids, communication tools, and structured routines to help students express themselves and understand others
Monitor progress and contribute to setting and reviewing targets (EHCPs where relevant)
Help create an inclusive, safe, and supportive classroom environment

Essential Criteria:
Experience working with children or young people with SLCN or other SEND
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, adaptability, and empathy
Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals

Desirable:
Knowledge of communication systems (e.g. PECs, Makaton)
Background in speech and language therapy or child development
Experience working in schools, specialist provisions, or speech and language bases

Pay
Five Education operates a PAYE payroll – the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin charges or employer’s NI. Please note, pay rate is illustrative and includes holiday pay.

Vetting
Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will undergo checks including reference and TRA checks. If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, a new DBS will need to be processed at a cost of £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work and once registered to the update service.
