Description

The School

A special school for students aged 4 to 19 years. Students have a wide range of needs and are supported by a team of dedicated teachers, teaching assistants and therapists. Small classes, and differentiated learning pathways, allow for targeted teaching that meets individual needs.

The Role

A full time teaching assistant role, providing individualised support in one or more classroom(s). You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and will be supported by other staff in the class.

Main responsibilities
Ensure the safety, wellbeing and dignity of students is maintained
Support students during lessons, as directed by class teacher
Work one-to-one with identified students
Provide personal care
Participate in team meetings/discussions

Essential Criteria/Skills
Experience supporting people with additional needs
Very good level of spoken and written English
Resilience and flexibility
Ability to remain calm under pressure

Desirable Criteria
Previous experience working in a special school
